Storytelling at DrumSoulDance Events

Storytelling Institute at South Mountain College:

“The initial focus of our program was the folktales, myths, and legends of the world’s oral storytelling traditions. The subsequent community need for, and interest in, personal, family, and fact-based stories has influenced our course content, our event programming, and our community outreach over time. We now have a college storytelling program that can offer the community a wide spectrum of storytelling skills training.”

For DrumSoulDance Rhythm events, storytelling will make use of world tales with life lessons and morals, as well as personal stories to integrate with the rhythm (and dance, if present) themes. The storytelling will “punctuate” (separate) rhythm sessions of an event.
